Jim Niven
9th – 12th Grade English Teacher / Team Leader
I am originally from Los Angeles, CA, USA, but have lived all over the United States. I currently live in Guanacate, CR, with my family and our menagerie of animals. I am a fluent English speaker, and I am slowly becoming a proficient Spanish speaker. I have been teaching high school-aged students, working in Children’s Museums, or creating learning environments since 1998, and I love what I do. I currently teach the Pathways students (grades 9-12) World Literature, The Darker Side of Fiction, Fantasy & Sci-fi vs. Reality, World History: Modern, Comparative Government and Politics, and Human Geography. My hobbies include all types of music, all types of board sports, reading fiction and non-fiction, and studying history.
